A security expert turned politician, Alhaji Bello Bakyasuwa Maradun has asked the state Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Dauran to resign with immediate effect in view of the recent spites of bandits attacks.
Addressing journalists in Gusau on Sunday, Bakyasuwa a retired Warrant Officer of the Nigerian Army said within the last one month, gunmen have consistently carried out planned and coordinated attacks in the state
He said it is no longer news that Zamfara state is under attacks virtually on daily basis as those appointed to assist the governor in that direction have completely failed.
“The likes of Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Dauran and his lieutenant the Special Adviser to the governor on Security matter, Mamman Tsafe need to silently resign from their positions and apologise to the good people of Zamfara state,” he said.
Bakyasuwa said the security aides are incompetence and lack security expertize which is resulting to the increasing security threats across the state.
“I wish to draw the attention of the state Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Dauran and the SA security Tsafe to as a matter of urgency resign from their positions in order to pave way for the state government to implement security reforms,” he said.
The ex soldier said given the magnitude of attacks in the state, the security commissioner has failed to do what the governor appointed him to do.
He said the Commissioner should not be only to rescue or get people released but to stop the kidnapping completely.
“In my expert opinion, since the Commissioner know some of the bandits, it means he knows those who go against reconciliation. Since you know them, fish them out and let’s end this once and for all,” he said.
Bakyasuwa also chided the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Bala Bello for remaining in the hotel since his appointment.
“I advise him as a matter of urgency to vacate the hotel where he is living in to come into the society and get a permanent home within the state for better governance,” he said.
The security expert said the SSG has vital role to play to end security issues in the state and therefore the need for him to move out of the hotel where he is currently staying.
“That is what will make us believe he has Zamfara in his heart and contribute eminently,” he said.
Bakyasuwa called on the state House of Assembly to promulgate a law to back up the reconciliation measures taken up by the Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle’s administration to fight against banditry.
