RMTIMENG—Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has urged Nigerians to continue to observe all the COVID-19 protocols as enunciated by the world, national and state authorities for them to continue to curtail the spread of the disease.

“The Covid-19 pandemic is still with us, even though it has generally
subsided in most parts of the country,” he noted in his Eid-el-Adha
message.

Tambuwal was grateful that in the last couple of months, Sokoto State
recorded zero cases, expressing appreciation to the State Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic, the National Centre for Disease Control, CDC, medical workers and all stakeholders for the health situation in the state.

On the lessons of the Sallah celebration, he harped on the need for the people to uphold the spirit of sacrifice in their dealings with
one another and the society at large.

“I enjoin us all, to imbibe the spirit of brotherhood and all the
virtues that are symbolised by this holy season. It is a time to cleanse our hearts and the intentions of our acts, for the sole purpose of securing the reward from the Almighty and the benefit of society.”

The governor assured the citizens they had not relented in their efforts to tackle security challenges through sustained support to
security agencies.

“Even though alarming attacks still persist in our communities, our
collaboration has recorded successes in capturing and containing bandits and kidnappers in our state, “he disclosed.

Tambuwal appreciated the cooperation of the traditional institution and supplications of the religious leaders, under the guidance of His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto.

“The value and efficacy of prayers cannot be overemphasised,
especially in this period of an important act of worship.”
