Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal is a prudent and people-oriented leader, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has asserted.
“In spite of scarce resources and low federal allocation, which is not more than N4.5 billion monthly, Tambuwal administration is doing its best to pay workers salary, ensure recruitments of civil servants and embarked infrastructural projects,” Sokoto PDP Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Hausawa, stated.
He debunked rumours that the state government planned to give the reconstruction and management of the Shehu Shagari market destroyed by the inferno to certain financial interests outside the state.
Hausawa stressed Sokoto State Investment Company would handle the reconstruction of the market for increased revenue and discourage personalising shops by individual traders.
According to him, the governor had secured N3 billion to reconstruct it into a modernised structure by global standard practice.
The publicity secretary also explained the state government had constituted a committee for the distribution of donations received following the inferno.
The committee under the leadership of Alhaji Namadina Abdurrahman has membership from the Sultanate Council, Security Agencies, business
groups, the state Chamber of Commerce, and representatives of Islamic scholars, he pointed out.
