Former National Secretary of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi,
has called on the Federal Government to deploy more security personnel to Zamfara to deal with raising security challenges in the state.

Shinkafi who was the APGA Zamfara state gubernatorial candidate in the last general
election made the call at a press conference in Gusau, saying the deployment will help to tackle insecurity in the state and other parts of North West.

“I call on President Muhammad Buhari to deploy more security personnel to Zamfara to crush out arm bandits and other criminals as well as their sponsors.

“You know, if Zamfara is on fire, other states like Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna and even Niger republic would be affected because we share boundaries with them,” Shinkafi said.

Shinkafi said that addressing security challenges in Zamfara is like addressing the challenges in the whole of North West.

“We appreciate both state and Federal Government’s intervention in tackling with security challenges in the state but more effort need to be done to provide lasting solution to the problem,” he said.

Shinkafi urged the Zamfara state government to review its security strategies and deal with any body found to be involved causing security crisis in the state.

“We learned that some miscreants are regrouping to cause security harvoc in the state which is unacceptable.

“The lives and properties of citizens is beyond any personality, therefore any body found playing role to support insecurity should be dealt with so as to serve as deterrent to others,” he warned.

Shinkafi tasked the state government to hit hard any body found guilty of aiding and abetting criminals no matter the status of such individual or individuals.

He cautioned relatives of kidnapped victims to avoid paying ransom to kidnappers for the release of their victims, as paying huge money to kidnappers as ransom would continue to encourage them to kidnap more people.

“Paying ransom to kidnappers would not solve the proble, the crimals would only use the money to buy more arms and weapons to continue terrorising the communities.

He urged the people of Zamfara to support the ongoing peace dialogue initiated by Governor Bello Matawalle aimed at finding lasting solutions to the security challenges facing the state.
