Lawmaker doles out farm inputs, cash to 50 dry season farmers in Sokoto

A Member of the House of Representatives, representing Wamakko and Kware Federal Constituency, Hon. Ahmed Abdullahi Kalambaina (APC-Sokoto), has donated assorted farm implements and cash, to fifty dry season farmers.

The largesse was part of Kalambaina’s 2020 Capital Intervention Constituency projects. The benefitting farmers were also underwent a Two-day Interactive Training on Rice Planting, Processing and Marketing .

The items and the money were presented to the benefitting farmers, on Saturday, in Sokoto, at the graduation ceremony.

In his address during the graduation ceremony, the Initiator of the gesture, Hon. Ahmad Abdullahi Kalambaina said, the program was aimed at boosting dry season farming in his constituency.

Kalambaina who also described agriculture was the potential cash cow of the state and Nigeria, in general.

The lawmaker added:” This is more so, especially the fact that, sokoto soil is fertile that is capable of producing any crops, within a short time.”

He further explained that, the participants were drawn from the two local government areas where he represents, even as he called on them to use the materials provided to them judiciously.

Kalambaina further assured the people of the area that, in the next couple of weeks, a similar program will be conducted for another set of one hundred ( 100), dry season farmers.

According to him, the relentless gesture was in the bid to encourage them, to boost their farming activities in the area.

In his remarks, Executive Secretary of the Police Trust Fund, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, applauded the efforts of the Initiator, Ahmad Kalambaina, for coming up with such laudable projects which are aimed at boosting the morale of the people of the area.

Aliyu said that, he was not surprised as Kalambaina was trailing the footsteps of APC Leader in the State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.

Aliyu further commended the leadership style of Senator Wamakko, which he described as unparalleled and exemplary.

He therefore challenged other lawmakers in the state to emulate Kalambaina, so as to enhance the living standard of his constituents.

Aliyu also urged, “they should come back home and look at the people who elected them into office.”

Each of the participants was presented with a water pumping machine, a bag of Paddy rice and financial assistance, to transport their materials home.

The occasion was witnessed by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Executive Secretary, Police Trust Fund, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, APC Chairman in the State, Hon. Isah Sadiq Achida and his party Executives, politicians, Ulamas, farmers and members of the business community, among others.
