A member of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Isa Kurdulla has recommended a hybrid security measure in addressing the problem of kidnapping and other criminalities in Tangaza and Gudu local government areas of Sokoto state.
Kurdulla who represents Gudu/Tangaza federal constituency made the call while speaking to journalists on the activities of bandits in the two local government areas.
He confirmed that attacks by bandits had led to the loss of lives of innocent persons while livestock, foodstuffs, other essential commodities worth millions of naira were carted away.
The lawmaker lamented that many residents had deserted many towns and villages in the localities for fear of attacks as the bandits attack soft targets in the night.
The security challenges in areas needs urgent attention of the federal government, Inspector General of Police and all security outfits to tackle it, he stated.
He also urged National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to hasten the delivery of relief materials to the affected communities in Gudu and Tangaza local government areas of Sokoto state
Kurdulla stressed the readiness of the people to collaborate with security agencies to tackle the security challenges. He, however, lauded the federal government for its efforts towards addressing security problems nation-wide.
